Kenosha, Wisconsin · Coffee, culture, and community
The BLAK story
What began as a dream inspired by owner DeShaun Foster's daughter grew into Kenosha's first Black-owned coffee shop—and a space built to feel like home.
BLAK Coffee celebrates family, culture, creativity, and the community that raised it. The walls, the music, and the menu all tell a story through memorable drinks, genuine conversation, and a welcome that keeps people coming back.
“We are a shop where everyone feels welcome when you walk through the door.”— DeShaun Foster, owner
Life inside BLAK

BLAK Coffee Kenosha Q&A and information
We have been getting a lot of questions about BLAK Coffee Kenosha. We understand that some incorrect facts have made it hard for people from Kenosha and surrounding areas to support us, so we wanted to share a Q&A to help everyone understand more about us.
Our winter/spring hours are still in effect, Tuesday–Saturday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. We open earlier and stay open later during summer hours. Our physical location—yes, we have a storefront—is 5615 7th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53140. It is on the east side of the building in Kenosha Creative Space.
Yes, we have seating for about 20 customers. As the weather improves, we have outdoor seating so you can enjoy our fabulous drinks outside. We also have Wi-Fi for customers, plus a curated music playlist while you take care of business or do homework.
We currently do not offer curbside pickup, but most customers wait only 3–4 minutes for their drinks. We prioritize customer service and would love for you to place your order in person and enjoy a quick but great conversation with our cashier or barista.
Yes. We currently have two breakfast sandwiches: bacon, egg, and cheese, and sausage, egg, and cheese. We would love to bring back our regular, chocolate, and sweet potato waffles, along with bagels, during the spring and summer months. Every day we have a delicious selection of pastries from a favorite local bakery. On Saturdays, DeShaun’s mother, Deborah, makes a wide variety of amazing homemade desserts. We post the dessert the night before, so be on the lookout.
We are hoping to rejoin the HarborMarket this season, but we still encourage the community to visit our brick-and-mortar location on Saturdays before the market. If we are able to join, our physical location remains open while we are at the HarborMarket. We love being part of it and keep everyone updated through our social channels.
Yes. Jojo’s Coco is DeShaun’s daughter’s hot chocolate recipe. We also have Chillers, which are similar to a frappe but not blended, Steamers made with steamed flavored milk, and Foster’s Lemonade with 20 different flavors. For customers who do not like coffee, we have chai, lemonades, and Lightning Bolts, our plant-based energy drink.
We try our hardest to keep a couple of parking spots available in front of the shop, but downtown Kenosha parking can be difficult to maintain. We encourage customers to find a nearby spot and walk to the shop. Your BLAK Coffee experience is worth the short walk.
We hope this quick Q&A helps generate potential customers and encourages repeat business as we overcome the slow season for small businesses. We are huge advocates for supporting local businesses because they keep our community unique. We understand that convenience, including drive-thrus and location, plays a huge role in where you choose to get your coffee, but we hope to change that with this post.
We love and appreciate you, Kenosha.Come through
